Relations between Serbia and the United States have developed significantly in recent years, especially in the fields of trade, technology, investments, and business cooperation. While the two countries have a complex historical and political background, economic relations continue to grow steadily.

Today, the United States is one of the important non-European economic partners for Serbia. Trade between the two countries has increased year after year, with Serbian exports to the American market reaching hundreds of millions of dollars annually.

One of the biggest advantages for Serbia is its growing industrial and manufacturing sector. Serbian companies export a variety of products to the U.S. market, including:

  • automotive parts
  • tires
  • machinery components
  • fruits and frozen food
  • copper products
  • IT services
  • industrial equipment

According to recent trade data, some of Serbia’s most exported goods to the United States include tires, machine parts, fruits, copper, and industrial products.

At the same time, Serbia imports American products such as:

  • aviation equipment
  • pharmaceuticals
  • medical technology
  • machinery
  • chemicals
  • software and technology services

The United States also plays an important role in Serbia’s growing IT industry. Many Serbian software engineers and tech companies work with American clients and companies, especially in outsourcing, software development, cloud services, and AI-related projects. The Serbian IT sector has become one of the fastest-growing parts of the economy in the last decade.

American companies have also invested in Serbia through various industries, including manufacturing, technology, logistics, and services. Serbia is attractive to foreign investors because of its geographic location, skilled workforce, and competitive operating costs.

Another important factor is aviation and tourism cooperation. New airline connections and growing tourism between Serbia and international destinations continue to improve business opportunities and cultural exchange. Recent Air Serbia expansions show Serbia’s ambition to become a stronger regional travel hub.

Although the European Union remains Serbia’s largest trading partner overall, cooperation with the United States continues to expand and diversify.

Economic experts often point out that Serbia has potential to increase exports to the American market even further, especially in:

  • agriculture
  • organic food
  • technology services
  • renewable energy
  • automotive production
  • specialized manufacturing

In recent years, total trade between Serbia and the United States has approached roughly $1.4 billion annually according to trade analyses and official statistics.

For many Serbian companies, entering the American market represents a major opportunity because of the size of the U.S. economy and strong demand for quality industrial and agricultural products.

At the same time, stronger economic cooperation helps improve business connections, tourism, innovation, and educational exchange between the two countries. Despite global economic challenges, Serbia and the United States continue to strengthen their economic relationship through trade, investment, and modern technology industries.
