Serbia and China partnership during investment and technology agreementsSerbia and China continue strengthening economic and technological cooperation during high-level meetings in China.

Serbia’s cooperation with China continued to expand this week as President Aleksandar Vučić announced that new agreements worth nearly 953 million euros were signed during his official visit to China. The deals are expected to bring new factories, technology projects, and additional investments to several Serbian cities in the coming years.

Speaking from China, Vučić described the visit as highly successful, emphasizing that the number of meetings with Chinese companies exceeded initial expectations. According to him, discussions that originally included only a handful of companies quickly expanded into meetings with dozens of major investors interested in Serbia.

The newly signed agreements reportedly involve projects connected to the automotive industry, modern technologies, manufacturing, infrastructure, and innovation centers. Serbian officials believe these investments could create thousands of new jobs while strengthening the country’s industrial and technological development.

Several Serbian cities were mentioned as possible locations for future projects, including Šabac, Inđija, Ćuprija, Loznica, Novi Sad, Niš, and potentially Leskovac. Government representatives stated that some long-discussed investments connected to companies such as Jumko and Simpo may finally move closer to long-term solutions after years of negotiations.

Beyond economic cooperation, the visit also focused heavily on technology and innovation. Vučić visited Chinese innovation centers and technology companies where advanced robotics, artificial intelligence systems, and modern manufacturing solutions were presented. During one visit, robots reportedly even performed the traditional Serbian dance “Moravac,” something Vučić described as both surprising and symbolic of the growing cultural connection between the two countries.

Chinese companies already play a significant role in Serbia’s economy. Over the last decade, China has become one of Serbia’s most important foreign investors, with billions of euros invested into mining, infrastructure, roads, factories, and industrial production. According to recent reports, Chinese-owned companies in Serbia employ tens of thousands of workers across multiple sectors.

Vučić also stated that Serbia is trying to position itself as an attractive destination for future high-tech industries, energy projects, and advanced manufacturing. He highlighted political stability, economic growth, and Serbia’s geographic position as important reasons why international companies continue showing interest in investing in the country.

For many observers, the visit represents another step in Serbia’s effort to balance global partnerships while accelerating economic growth through foreign investments and technological cooperation.

As global competition for investments continues to grow, Serbia appears determined to strengthen its relationship with China while positioning itself as one of the region’s key economic hubs.

“Modern investments are no longer only about factories and machines — they are increasingly about technology, knowledge, and the future direction of an entire country.”
