Serbia is experiencing a noticeable rise in tourism in 2026, with visitor numbers continuing to grow across both domestic and international markets. Recent data shows that the country is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for travelers seeking new and less crowded experiences in Europe.

According to official statistics, Serbia recorded a 14% increase in tourist arrivals in early 2026 compared to the previous year, along with a significant rise in overnight stays.
This steady growth reflects a broader trend that has been developing over the past few years.

The increase is not limited to domestic tourism. Foreign visitor numbers are also rising, supported by improved connectivity and stronger international interest in the region. Analysts point out that Serbia is benefiting from a shift in travel preferences, as more tourists look for authentic destinations outside of traditional Western European hotspots.

Tourism experts highlight several key factors behind this growth. Investments in infrastructure, including better roads and expanded flight connections, have made Serbia more accessible than ever. In addition, the country’s competitive prices compared to other European destinations continue to attract travelers looking for value without sacrificing quality.

Urban tourism remains a major driver of growth. Cities such as Belgrade and Novi Sad continue to draw international visitors with their cultural scene, nightlife, and events. At the same time, mountain resorts, spas, and natural destinations are seeing increased demand, particularly among domestic tourists and regional visitors.

Another important element is the diversification of tourism offers. Serbia is no longer seen only as a transit destination but as a place where visitors stay longer and explore different regions.
From historical sites and festivals to nature and gastronomy, the country is expanding its appeal to a wider audience.

Looking ahead, expectations remain positive. Tourism has already reached record levels in recent years, with millions of visitors annually, and 2026 is projected to continue that upward trend.

With major international events such as EXPO 2027 on the horizon, Serbia is positioning itself as a growing destination on the European tourism map.

For many travelers, Serbia offers something increasingly rare — a combination of authenticity, affordability, and diverse experiences — making its tourism boom one of the most interesting developments in the region.
