Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visiting China and speaking about technology and future investmentsSerbia and China Partnership 2026

During the third day of his official visit to China, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić continued a packed schedule focused on economic cooperation, technology, education, and future investments between the two countries. The visit once again highlighted the increasingly strong relationship between Serbia and China, which has grown significantly over the past decade.

Speaking from Beijing, Vučić said that his primary goal in China was to fight for new investments and opportunities for Serbian citizens, emphasizing that economic development remains one of Serbia’s key priorities.

One of the most important moments of the visit was Vučić’s speech at the prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s leading academic institutions and one of the most respected universities in the world. Addressing students and professors, Vučić spoke about the importance of education, science, and technological development in shaping the future of modern societies.

He praised China’s rapid progress in innovation and research, while also expressing hope that cooperation between Serbian and Chinese institutions could continue to expand in the years ahead. According to Vučić, universities and young people will play a crucial role in the future development of both countries.

Beyond diplomacy and economics, part of the visit also attracted attention because of Vučić’s reactions to China’s advanced technological achievements. During a tour of the Museum of the Communist Party of China in Beijing, the Serbian president described the experience as feeling “like stepping into the future.”

Surrounded by displays of modern technology, artificial intelligence, and China’s industrial progress, Vučić compared the experience to scenes from science fiction films he once watched as a child. He joked that some of the innovations he saw were so advanced that even his mobile phone suddenly felt outdated.

The museum itself presents China’s transformation from a poor agricultural country into one of the world’s leading economic and technological powers. Vučić particularly pointed to China’s long-term planning, discipline, and work ethic as key reasons behind the country’s extraordinary development over the last several decades.

The Serbian delegation accompanying Vučić included several ministers and government officials responsible for finance, technology, economy, and digitalization, signaling that future cooperation between Serbia and China may focus even more heavily on infrastructure, innovation, and modern industries.

At the same time, Vučić dismissed criticism coming from certain European political circles regarding Serbia’s close cooperation with China. He argued that many European countries themselves maintain extensive economic relations with Beijing, adding that Serbia should also have the right to pursue partnerships that benefit its own economy and citizens.

For many observers, the visit reflects Serbia’s continuing attempt to balance relationships between East and West while attracting foreign investment and technological partnerships from multiple global powers.

As China continues to expand its influence through infrastructure, trade, and technology projects worldwide, Serbia appears determined to remain one of Beijing’s closest partners in the Balkans.

“In a world shaped by technology and global competition, countries increasingly look toward partnerships that can secure economic growth and long-term stability.”
