Severe storm clouds, lightning, heavy rain, and dramatic weather conditions over Serbia with sudden temperature changes and thunderstorms.Serbia is preparing for a highly unstable weather weekend with thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds, and a major temperature drop.

Serbia is expected to experience highly unstable and dramatic weather conditions during the upcoming weekend, with meteorologists warning about severe thunderstorms, intense rainfall, strong winds, and a significant drop in temperatures across the country.

According to the latest forecasts from the Republic Hydrometeorological Service (RHMZ), weather conditions are expected to change rapidly over the next several days as storm systems move across the region.

Friday began with mostly sunny and calm weather in many parts of Serbia, but meteorologists warn that conditions will become much more unstable later in the day. Increasing cloud cover during the afternoon is expected to bring local rain showers and thunderstorms to multiple regions.

Authorities have already issued yellow weather alerts for the entire country due to the risk of lightning strikes, strong winds, and sudden heavy rainfall. Experts also warned that thunderstorms could temporarily affect telecommunications, electrical systems, and traffic conditions.

Saturday is expected to bring even more unstable weather, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Meteorologists predict strong thunderstorm activity accompanied by intense rain, localized hail, and powerful wind gusts.

Some areas could receive large amounts of rainfall within a very short period of time, creating what experts describe as a “water wall” effect in certain regions. Urban flooding, reduced visibility, and difficult driving conditions are possible in several cities and municipalities.

Weather warnings also mention the possibility of hailstorms capable of damaging agriculture, vehicles, and property in some areas.

Temperatures during Saturday are expected to remain relatively warm during the day, reaching between 21°C and 25°C in some regions. However, conditions will begin changing rapidly by the evening as colder air moves into Serbia from the northwest.

A major weather shift is expected on Sunday, when much colder temperatures and widespread rain are forecast across most of the country. Strong northwestern winds will additionally increase the feeling of cold weather.

Meteorologists expect some eastern parts of Serbia — including Banat, Braničevo, Bor, and Zaječar districts — to receive particularly heavy rainfall. In some locations, more than 30 liters of rain per square meter could fall within 24 hours.

Sunday’s temperatures are expected to drop significantly compared to previous days, with maximum daytime temperatures falling to between 13°C and 18°C in many areas.

Weather experts say unstable conditions may continue into next week as Serbia remains under the influence of changing atmospheric systems. Local rain showers and thunderstorms are still possible in several regions during the coming days.

Authorities advise citizens to follow official weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel during severe storms, and exercise caution due to possible flooding, strong winds, and dangerous lightning activity.
