Storm clouds, lightning, heavy rain, and severe weather warning graphic over Serbia with thunderstorm forecast and strong wind alerts.Serbia is facing severe weather conditions today with thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds, and possible hail in multiple regions.

Serbia is expected to face highly unstable weather conditions today, with heavy rain showers, thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hail affecting multiple parts of the country.

According to forecasts from the Republic Hydrometeorological Service (RHMZ), the highest risk of severe weather is expected in northern, western, central, and eastern regions of Serbia. Authorities issued the highest-level red weather alert for parts of Western Serbia, Eastern Serbia, Šumadija, and the Srem region due to dangerous wind gusts and storm activity.

Meteorologists warn that weather conditions could worsen later in the afternoon and evening as a cold front moves across the country. Strong northwestern winds are expected to develop, with gusts potentially reaching between 70 and 100 km/h, while some isolated areas could experience even stronger winds exceeding 120 km/h.

Temperatures during the morning ranged between 11°C and 17°C, while daytime highs are expected to vary from around 19°C in northwestern Serbia to approximately 26°C in southeastern parts of the country. However, a noticeable drop in temperature is expected by the evening.

RHMZ also issued orange alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms across much of Serbia, warning that no region is completely outside the risk zone today.

Meteorologists additionally warned about the possibility of localized hailstorms and smaller supercell storm formations, particularly in western Serbia and Šumadija, where atmospheric instability remains very high.

Special caution has been advised during the evening hours, especially between 6 PM and midnight, when an organized storm system is expected to move across Serbia from the west.

Although large amounts of rainfall are not expected everywhere, intense downpours within short periods could still lead to temporary flooding, water accumulation on roads, and difficult driving conditions in some areas.

The severe weather follows storm activity that already affected parts of Serbia yesterday. Heavy rain, lightning, strong winds, and hail were reported in several locations, including Belgrade, Novi Beograd, Batajnica, Grocka, and Majdanpek. In some eastern areas, hail reportedly reached the size of walnuts, while streets temporarily flooded after intense rainfall.

Authorities are expected to continue issuing emergency weather updates throughout the day as conditions develop. Citizens are advised to follow official forecasts and exercise caution during outdoor activities and travel.
